Custom serum boxes built to protect the formula

Custom Serum Boxes: Fitted, Protected, Presented

Built around your bottle, not a generic size, and honest about when a window helps and when it doesn't.

The Window Decision

Does a Serum Box Need a Window?

Custom serum boxes usually skip the window. Here is why: light and air break down active ingredients like vitamin C, retinol, and niacinamide. That is also why serums come in dark glass bottles in the first place. A window lets light in. A solid box keeps light out.

So the simple rule is this. If your formula has actives that break down in light, use a solid box, not a windowed one. This is not just a design choice, it actually protects the product inside.

Our Window Boxes style page covers this same rule for packaging in general. Serums are one of the clearest real-world examples of it.

There is an exception. Some brands still want a small window, sized carefully to avoid direct sunlight at the point of sale. We can do that too, and we will tell you honestly if it is a good fit for your formula or not.

Shahwaze Packaging manufactures custom serum boxes for skincare brands, indie beauty startups, and private-label lines across the USA. See our Cosmetic Packaging page for our full range of beauty packaging.

Matching Box to Bottle

Matching the Box to the Bottle: Dropper, Pump, or Roll-On

Serum bottles aren't interchangeable, and neither is the fit around them. Here's how the bottle type actually changes what the box needs to do.

Bottle type
What it needs
Why
Dropper bottle
A snug, structured cavity around the base
Top-heavy with glass and liquid, prone to tipping without a tight fit
Pump bottle
Extra height clearance at the top
Taller overall, the pump head needs room the bottle body doesn't
Roll-on applicator
A stable base with light side support
Lighter and more balanced, needs less structural cavity than a dropper
Tell us your exact bottle dimensions and neck type rather than a general "serum bottle" description, the fit is what keeps it from rattling or tipping in transit.

Construction

Reverse Tuck End: The Clean Panel Dermatology Brands Choose

Many clinical and dermatology-positioned serum brands default to reverse tuck end construction, the same mechanism explained in full on our Tuck-End Boxes style page: the flaps tuck in opposite directions, leaving the front panel uninterrupted by a crease.

For a serum box, that matters because the front panel is usually carrying the ingredient story, ideal for a clean, no-crease strip listing actives and percentages without a fold breaking the text.

Protection In Transit

Keeping the Bottle From Rattling

A glass dropper bottle that shifts in the box during shipping can chip, crack, or arrive with a loosened cap. A fitted insert, the same die-cut card insert approach explained on our Rigid Boxes material page's Custom Inserts section, holds the bottle by shape rather than relying on the outer box alone.

Tell us your bottle type, dimensions, and whether you're selling retail, e-commerce, or both, we'll recommend a build and quote it free.

Materials

Materials, Printing & Finishes

Folding paperboard is the standard, lightweight and easy to print with a clean, tall-and-narrow profile. Kraft serum boxes suit clean-beauty and eco-facing brands, while corrugated adds protection for heavier bottles or e-commerce shipping. See our Kraft Boxes and Corrugated Boxes material pages for the fuller comparison.

Finishes run from foil stamping and spot UV for luxury positioning to soft-touch lamination for a premium feel in hand. Interior printing is worth considering too, it's the surface a customer sees the moment the box opens.

FAQ
